With more than 25 years of experience serving individual and family investment needs, Derek understands the importance of relationships based on mutual trust. He takes a broad-based approach to wealth preservation which incorporates creative out-of-the-box thinking and a focus on absolute returns.
Derek holds his Chartered Investment Manager designation (CIM®) and is a senior vice president, Private Client Group at Raymond James. He joined MacDougall, MacDougall & MacTier (3Macs) in 1994; it became a division of Raymond James Ltd. in October 2016. In recognition of the increasing complexities of wealth management, Derek’s team has grown to provide an extensive service offering with a specific focus on aging.
In his free time, Derek enjoys time at his Georgian Bay cottage, boating and mountain biking. He has also achieved his Shodan (1st) degree black belt in karate.
The Chartered Investment Manager® (CIM®) Designation builds the skills and experience we need to serve a more sophisticated financial client or institution. Financial professionals who hold the CIM® designation are eligible for registration as a Portfolio Manager in Canada. They have expertise in providing money management services to high-net-worth and institutional clients, and they understand the application of portfolio management in the context of Canadian markets and regulatory requirements
